Virginia Listening Sessions: Public Opinion Regarding Education Interim Report

Educators, parents, students, and family members in Virginia have a number of growing concerns regarding recent activities within Virginia and nationally to influence student access to books, what is taught in schools, and the inclusion and equity for all students.

To consider how to address issues facing schools today, a group of concerned citizens, including representatives from faith communities and education advocates met several times between February and July 2022. Based on recommendations from these meetings, the Center for Educational Improvement (CEI) designed and disseminated a brief online survey, and held an initial virtual listening session to learn about the educational priorities of Virginians.

This interim report highlights outcomes to date as of April 2023.
